CGNews looks at VES Awards nominee 'The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian'.
Each year, VES Awards recognize outstanding visual effects in-game movies, animation, television, commercials and videos. Annual VES Awards are 7 candidates were chosen earlier this month, the panel members who have visited the ESR is screening comments FotoKem in Burbank.
In the coming weeks CGNews function of each film nominated within the "exceptional visual effects visual effects Driven Motion Picture" category. The films nominated in this category are: Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian, Hellboy II - The Golden Army, Iron Man and Cloverfield.
‘The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian '
"The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" is the second novel in CS Lewis' fantasy classic that should be taken to the big screen. The film was directed by Andrew Adamson with cinematography by Karl Walter Lindenlaub and was released in the world in the summer of 2008.
The story begins with the four Pevensie children return year after their heroic adventures of "The Chronicles of Narnia:. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" However, time passes at different rates in the country, and the Chronicles of Narnia, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy return to 1300 years have passed and Narnia is under serious threat.

Prince Caspian, the rightful heir to the throne of Narnia, is fleeing, pursued by evil forces led by his uncle Miraz evil king. In desperation Caspian magically summons once the leaders of Narnia, the Pevensie, who find an even greater test of their faith and courage awaits them.
Mamouth CGI effects needed for this project was directed by visual effects supervisor Dean Wright and Wendy Rogers, who spent more than two years, overseeing a team of digital artists from more than 1,000 worldwide. Dean Wright also served as chief supervisor of visual effects in "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe '.
The main visual effects work on Prince Caspian was carried out for Moving Picture Company, assisted by the frame memory, and Weta, with the band produces a complex work needed for the scenes of water.
"We were responsible for making all this more realistic, as we were dealing with more characters and more variation within each species, and interaction between the CG characters and real actors would increase. One of the largest CG breakthroughs in recent years is the increased ability of digital artists to create realistic interaction between live action and CG characters in the same frame "Dean said Wright.

This was particularly evident in the memorable scene involving the youngest of the four Pevensie children, Lucy, when she is finally reunited with her beloved Aslan. This work was created by Framestore and the scene Lucy affectionately tackles the majestic lion to the ground and hug him for about 30 seconds or more.
The Framestore team also created several effects and effects-based sequences, including translation of children from the train station in London during the War on Land of Narnia, a dryad composed of petals, some scenes in the fleeing troops CG, and the final scene in which a magical tree opens a door to other worlds, and through which the children return to their own.


MPC art department provided Reepicheep design, concepting his facial features, body and skin carefully detailed. Reepicheep was voiced by Eddie Izzard, giving MPC Animation Department in bold to guide the character to life. Two scenes featuring performances intimate final accounting between the mouse and the young cast of the film first meeting Reepicheep, suspicious of Prince Caspian, Reepicheep and rescue possible, against the near death of Queen Lucy. MPC also provided large-scale battle sequences and a wide range of other characters.
This 2008 sequel to direct the battle banished Narnians and the Telmarines their enemy which resulted in many fierce battle sequences. While the newcomer Barnes (Prince Caspian), and established Pevensie quartet Moseley, Popplewell, Keynes, and Henley are all good shape, the film has a lot to improve the supporting cast. In short reprise their roles in the earlier film by Liam Neeson as the voice of Aslan, and Tilda Swinton as the White Witch, actors who bring familiar characters in this engaging and entertaining second chapter in the saga of Narnia.

“One of the first tasks we faced was to recreate something that had already been created. Data from Rhythm & Hues (who created Aslan for the first film) was the starting point, although for various reasons, we used only the most basic model of theirs, rebuilding pretty much the rest.
